Profile

I am Elena Barbierato. I was born on 30/03/1992 in Florence. I graduated at the University of Florence in Urban and Landscape planning where I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in 2015  and Master’s Degree in 2017. I attended a research grant and two research fellowships at the Department of Agricultural, Food, Environmental and Forestry Sciences and Technologies (Unifi) focused on the use of Big Data and perceptual analysis in the evaluation of Tuscan wine landscapes. During the research activity I attended numerous International conferences:  Agri-food, Economics of culture and food, Remote sensing, Climate Change, Forests for public health. I specialized in programming languages, in particular R, and I have an excellent knowledge of territorial information systems (GIS).

Research interests and PhD project

The research interests concern the sustainability and enhancement of the agro-forestry territory, with particular regard to cultural ecosystem services for the first theme, and to wine production and winescape for the second. The aim is to define guidelines to protect and redevelop agricultural spaces, to strengthen the link between the quality of the landscape and the quality of its products, to increase the attractiveness of the territory in order to guarantee both local and regional economic development. The research topics will be analyzed through the combination of traditional techniques and innovative techniques, in particular Big Data analysis, Neuromarketing (EEG, ET) and Virtual Reality.
