Profile

I graduated at the University of Florence in April 2013 where I obtained a Master Degree in Science for Cultural Heritage Conservation (110/110 cum laude). I developed a multidisciplinary approach to scientific problems related to the characterization of the materials of arts, their recovery, preservation, enhancement and enjoyment. I worked as a diagnostic consultant at the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore, Florence Dome and now I am attending my last year of PhD in Wood science and technologies.

Research interests and PhD project

My current research focuses on wood aging phenomena and the development of proper conservation strategy for wooden heritage, monitoring emissions from raw materials and from wooden artefacts (VOC analysis by means of PTR-TOF-MS, SPME/GC-MS). More broadly I am interested in wood science and conservation in cultural heritage field, concerning also characterization of the preservative state of the material, using both microscopic (OM optical microscopy) and spectroscopic analyses (FT-IR, NMR).
