Agri-food Economics and Sustainable Rural Development (EASRS)

The educational and research program focuses on analyzing the efficiency of the agri-food sector, with a specific emphasis on the wine industry. The study is based on a systemic approach that, starting from the analysis of the business and local system contexts, addresses the main issues of the supply chain and final demand. Particular attention is devoted to the challenges of rural development, with reference to the acquisition of tools and methodologies that enable the definition and interpretation of integrated local development models. Furthermore, the program explores the dynamics of sustainable development and multifunctionality in rural contexts, aiming to combine business competitiveness with the protection of quality of life in these areas.

In particular, the main objectives are:

  • To deepen the use of qualitative and quantitative methodologies for economic and territorial research.
  • To study sustainability reporting tools in the agri-food system, considering economic, social, and environmental aspects.
  • To analyze rural development policies, with particular attention to strategies for the valorization of local areas.
  • To study consumer behavior, focusing on sustainable choices and emerging consumption trends.

The program aims to train researchers and professionals capable of addressing the challenges of sustainable development, supporting the competitive growth of the agri-food sector while maintaining economic, environmental, and social balance.
