Agri-food Economics and Sustainable Rural Development (EASRS)

The educational and research path is focused on analyzing the efficiency of the agri-food sector, with specific emphasis on the wine industry. The study is based on a systemic approach that begins with the analysis of the business context and the local system, addressing the main themes of the supply chain and end-user demand. A particular focus is dedicated to the analysis of rural development issues, with reference to acquiring tools and methodologies that allow for defining and interpreting models of integrated local development. Additionally, the program delves into the dynamics of sustainable development and multifunctionality in the rural context, aiming to combine the competitiveness of enterprises with the protection of quality of life in the regions.

Specifically, the main objectives are:

  • To deepen the use of qualitative and quantitative methodologies for economic and territorial research.
  • To study tools for sustainability reporting in the agri-food system, considering economic, social, and environmental aspects.
  • To study rural development policies, with particular attention to strategies for enhancing the value of territories.
  • To analyse consumer behaviour, focusing on sustainable choices and new consumption trends.
  • The program aims to train researchers and professionals capable of addressing the challenges of sustainable development, supporting the competitive growth of the agri-food sector while respecting economic, environmental, and social balance.
