On July 5, 2025, the sixth International Conference of Soil and Bio Ecoengineering on the use of vegetation for the stability of the slopes was closed, held in Xalapa, Mexico at the University and Ecology Institute of Veracruz with the participation of the world's leading experts in the field. The one related to the study on the ten-year monitoring of the Pomezzana landslide in Tuscany conducted by members of AIPIN (Italian Association for Natural Engineering) and experts from the DAGRI department of the University of Florence was awarded as the best presentation.
Doctoral student Emanuele Giachi and his supervisor Federico Preti received the recognition.
The research has shown that the interventions of Soil and Water Bio-Engineering have not only restored and stabilised the landslide in an increasing way over time, but have led to a significant biodiversity enhancement.
